Jack London (1876-1916) was an American novelist, journalist and social activist. Pioneering the genre of magazine fiction and prototyping science fiction, he became one of the first writers, who gained worldwide fame and a large fortune. "Adventure" tells the story a man who finds himself alone on a plantation, harassed by local cannibals and an independent and liberated woman whose arrival at the place changes everything. The novel explores the themes of colonialism and slavery set in the Solomon Islands, the differences between races, feminism, and the strength of the spirit, caught in a struggle with nature and society.
